Crook Log Leisure Centre, Bexleyheath, evacuated due to suspected chemical leak

A leisure centre has been evacuated after a suspected chemical leak.

Crook Log Leisure Centre in Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, announced to users this morning it was closed until further notice due to a “mechanical failure”, but has now reopened.

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: “We are at the scene of a suspected chemical leak on Brampton Road in Bexleyheath.

“We were called at 10am, and the building has been evacuated.”

The leisure centre’s customer notice added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will update you all in due course.”

An update at 12.44pm read: “We are now reopen. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.

“We will provide a detailed update later today! Well done to all the teams involved, a big thank you to London Fire Brigade for all their help!”
