A major emergency services presence has descended on a station after a person was hit by a train.

The incident occurred between Bromley South and Swanley at approximately 6.30pm and all lines through Bromley South are currently blocked.

Commuters are facing lengthy delays this evening following the incident.

National Rail informed that trains may be cancelled, delayed up to an hour or revised.

Response staff from Network Rail and emergency services were at the site dealing with the incident.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters assisted emergency service colleagues at an incident at Bickley Railway Station in Bromley.

"The Brigade was called at 6.10pm and the incident was over for firefighters by 7.08pm. Two fire engines from Bromley Fire Station and a fire rescue unit from Lewisham Fire Station attended the scene."

"We've been advised that emergency services are now clear of all lines and the power is being restored to allow trains to run.

"Services will not be calling at Bickley until further notice.

"There is severe disrupted to our trains out of Victoria."

A passenger who was on her way home from work said she had to get off the train at Bickley not knowing what was happening.

She said: "Something is going on. There are loads of police at the station. We just got stopped for half an hour and everyone's had to get off the train.

"I could see three fire engines, two ambulances and loads of police cars. I think incident report unit just showed up as well and advanced trauma team."

Passengers can use their ticket at no extra cost on London buses on reasonable routes in the area, London Underground services between Southeastern terminals, and Southeastern High Speed trains between London St Pancras International and the Medway towns.
