A man has been seriously injured after being hit by a bus.

The victim, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital after the incident in Bexleyheath at 1.50pm.

A spokesman for the Met Police said the man has suffered "life-changing injuries" after a collision in Broadway in the town centre.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) were on the scene within four minutes and the capital's air ambulance was also dispatched.

A spokesman for LAS said: "We dispatched an ambulance crew, a medic in a car and an incident response officer, with the first of our medics arriving within four minutes.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”

The area was cordoned off by police while he was assessed and given treatment.

Police later said the man's condition is not life threatening but that his next of kin have been identified.
