Man dies in suspected hit-and-run crash in Bedonwell Road, Bexleyheath

A man has died in a suspected hit-and-run crash.
The 62-year-old, who had been driving a Citroen, suffered fatal injuries in the collision in Bedonwell Road, Bexleyheath.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the Met Police says officers were called to the incident shortly before 7.30pm yesterday.
"Despite the efforts of emergency services, the driver of a red Citreon C1 car - a 62-year-old man - was pronounced dead at the scene," they said. "The man's family has been informed.
"Another vehicle involved in the collision – a silver Mercedes - failed stop and drove away from the scene.
"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) based at Catford are investigating."
The force says the Mercedes was found abandoned a short time later.
A 36-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing a death while uninsured and failing to stop at a collision. He has been taken into custody.
