The family of a firefighter who went missing during a Christmas pub crawl have joined a police search and are appealing information.

Anthony Knott, 33, from Lincoln Green, Orpington, had been in Lewes, East Sussex, on Friday night enjoying drinks with friends from work.

The father-of-four was last seen at The Lamb of Lewes pub in Fisher Street at around 7.30pm before becoming separated from his 11 London Fire Brigade colleagues.

Sussex Police and the local fire and rescue service were joined by family members and London firefighters for the second day of searching yesterday.

His fiancée Lucy Otto described his disappearance as "completely out of character".

She has made a media appeal for anyone with information to come forward, saying: "He’s a family man. He loves his job; he loves his friends; he loves his kids – and it’s Christmas."

"This isn't something he would intentionally do. He wouldn’t want to stay away.

"That’s why we are extra worried because it’s just not like him and we are thinking the worse because he wouldn’t do this to us.”

Anyone who may have seen Anthony or who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by phoning 101, quoting serial 727 of 21/12.

If he is ill, injured or thought to be in danger, please dial 999 immediately.
