Man dies after being struck by hit-and-run driver in Bexley

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car just before midnight last night.
The accident happened in Vicarage Road at its junction with Tile Kiln Lane, near Bexley, at around 11.30pm on Friday.
A 60-year-old man was injured and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, including the London Air Ambulance crew, he died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The car driver did not stop, although subsequently a 45-year-old man attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a collision.
He remains in police custody.
Officers investigating the death are appealing for any witnesses or to any road users with dash cam footage who were travelling in the area at the time to come forward.
