Pensioner charged with murder of Carol James, 81, after she was found with serious injuries in Dunwich Road, Bexley

A pensioner has been charged with murder after the death of an 81-year-old woman.

Officers were called to a property on Dunwich Road, Bexley on Friday (November 15) after concerns were raised about the safety of a woman.

The victim, Carol James, was found with serious injuries and died at the scene.

Brian James, 81, was arrested at the property and has since been charged with murder.

He will appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow (November 20).

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Magee, whose team is leading the investigation, said: “This is a tragic incident where a family have lost a loved one.

“We ask that the public respect the privacy of Carol’s family during this difficult time.”

Carol’s family are aware and are receiving support from specialist officers.
