A person was hit by a train this evening.
They were taken to hospital with injuries that were believed to be life threatening.
It happened at New Eltham the Sidcup line and led to services either being cancelled or diverted.
Southeastern took to social media to warn passengers about the disruption.
In a tweet at 6.20pm today (Thursday), the company confirmed: “Because of a person being hit by a train, trains via the #Sidcup line are being diverted via Bexleyheath or Woolwich.”
It said emergency services were dealing with the incident and services via Sidcup were likely to be cancelled.
Southeastern also told passengers they could use tickets at no extra cost on London buses, the Underground and DLR.
By 8pm, the line was reopened and trains were running again.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line in New Eltham following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and a person was taken to hospital with injuries, which are believed to be life-threatening. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
