Around 25 firefighters tackled a house fire, thought to have been caused by a cigarette.
Mead Way in Bromley was closed between the junctions of Bourne Vale and Pickhurst Park while crews tackled the flames on Saturday.
Half of the second floor of a three-storey mid-terraced house was damaged following the blaze, which broke out shortly before 1pm.
Two people left the house before firefighters arrived and they were treated by London Ambulance Service crews for smoke inhalation.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "We'd rather you didn't smoke at all, but if you are a smoker, it's absolutely vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you've finished smoking it.
"If you don't, you risk causing a fire which could not only destroy properties but also cost you your life."
The fire was extinguished by 2.15pm.
