Welling United lost more than £120,000 during the 2019/20 season, their latest accounts reveal.

The Wings' profit and loss account deficit increased to nearly £300,000 - a rise of £122,196 on the previous year.

The loss was mainly underwritten by a directors loan of just over £110,000.

Welling were under the management of chairman Mark Goldberg during the first part of the 2019/20 campaign before he stepped down and was replaced by Bradley Quinton.

The season was cut short in March due to Covid-19, the Wings ending the campaign in 12th place in National League South.

Welling spent much of the curtailed 2020/21 season at the bottom of the table as they reduced their budget on previous campaigns.

Quinton left the club in January 2021 and was replaced by former Gillingham boss Steve Lovell. Their last game in the 2020/21 season was a 4-3 home win over Ebbsfleet on February 16.
