Air ambulance called to Wingham as man trapped under vehicle

A man thought to have become trapped beneath his car in a “tragic accident” was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim, who was in his 70s, died from his injuries following the incident in Wingham shortly before midday.
Police believe he had got out of his car on a sloping driveway when he became trapped beneath the vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews and an air ambulance were also called to the scene, but the man could not be saved.
His next of kin have been informed.
Inspector Martin Stevens said: “The incident took place on a sloping driveway behind the man’s house.
“At this stage we believe he got out of his car and became trapped underneath the vehicle.
“We will be investigating the incident but at this stage we are treating it as a tragic accident.”
