Police and air ambulance called after schoolgirl, 12, hit by car in New Dover Road, Canterbury

A schoolgirl was hurt when she was hit by a car in Canterbury this afternoon.
The 12-year-old was struck while crossing New Dover Road at 3.41pm.
Police closed the road and the air ambulance landed in a nearby field, but the girl was not thought to have been seriously hurt.
Spokesman Andy Saunders said: "Police were called at 3.41pm to reports that a 12-year-old girl had been involved in a collision with a vehicle on New London Road.
"Patrols and the South East Coast Ambulance Service have both attended the scene but the child's injuries are not believed to be serious."
It is not yet known whether she had to be taken to hospital.
