The body of a man suspected to have been murdered in a car park was discovered in a sleeping bag pulled tightly around him, a court has heard.

Guy Levy, 51, was found in the multi-storey in Castle Street, Canterbury, having suffered fatal injuries caused by blunt force trauma to his head and body.

Four men have since been charged with his murder, with the fourth appearing at Maidstone Crown Court this morning.

The same court was told yesterday how police had been called to the car park at 1.45pm on Easter Monday, but it is alleged Mr Levy was murdered in the early hours of the day before.

Prosecutor Martin Yale told the court police discovered his body inside a tent.

He was found face down in a sleeping bag drawn tightly around him, with bruising to his head and torso.

Forensics officers descended on the scene and the area was taped off as door-to-door enquiries were carried out by police.

Detectives also examined CCTV in the car park, particularly covering the time period Mr Levy is understood to have died.

Sobantu Sibanda, 27, of Albert Street, Whitstable, was arrested in connection with Mr Levy's death just hours after the tragic discovery.

The following day, Gavin Houghton, 49, and Airidas Sakalauskas, 21, both of Old Dover Road, Canterbury, were also taken into custody.

All three were later charged with murder.

On Thursday, a fourth man - Keith Hall, 50, of Athelstan Road, Thanington - was arrested and two days later charged with Mr Levy's murder.

Sibanda, Houghton and Sakalauskas appeared before Maidstone Crown Court yesterday, with Hall in the dock this morning.

All four have yet to enter a plea and will face a four-week trial, scheduled to be held at Canterbury Crown Court in October.

They have been remanded in prison until their next court appearance.
