Armed police arrest suspect in Broadstairs after man shot in Godwin Road, Canterbury

A man has been arrested by armed police in connection with a shooting.

Danny Mobey was shot in the stomach in Godwin Road in Thanington, Canterbury, on the evening of Thursday, July 19.

He was found seriously injured a mile away in Oxford Road, Wincheap shortly after.

Firearms officers stormed a property in Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs at about 5pm yesterday, and arrested a 34-year-old man who had been recalled to prison.

He was also detained on suspicion of the shooting, which was said to have left Margate man Mr Mobey with a broken pelvis and punctured kidney.

A man and woman were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The shooting in July sparked a major police response.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate cordoned off Godwin Road into the following day and spent hours scouring the scene for evidence.

Police also launched an appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

All three suspects remain in custody today.
