An Oktoberfest celebration is set to be held in Canterbury city centre.

The event is modelled upon the original Oktoberfest - a beer festival held in Munich which attracts more than six million people every autumn.

The Canterbury festival is set to take place in Westgate Hall, which will be kitted out like a traditional bierkeller, complete with a live Oompah band playing Bavarian music.

Beer will be served up in traditional steins, while Bavarian-style street food will also be available.

Organisers say they expect "hundreds of people" to flock to the festival, which is taking place across October 4 and 5.

Early-bird tickets have gone on sale today (Wednesday), costing £15, while general admission is £20 per person.

Two four-hour sessions will take place each day, with the first running from 1.30pm to 5.30pm, and the second from 7pm to 11pm.
