13:00, 20 May 2016
Police and fire crews are believed to be digging for a missing safe as part of investigations into the death of a pensioner.
Roy Blackman, 73, was found bludgeoned to death in his home in Biddenden on Monday, March 21.
Detectives are searching an area of Ratling Road in Aylesham for a large safe — described as a 5ft tall, metal, mustard-coloured heavy duty cabinet — taken from Heartsay Cottage were Mr Blackman lived.
The search is expected to conclude by the end of today.
It follows the arrest of a 52-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender and handling stolen goods on Wednesday.
He has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
