Households in Sturry and Hersden have had little or no water since the early hours of this morning due to a burst water main in Broad Oak.
Technicians from South East Water are currently on site and trying to fix the problem, which started at 1.30am and is affecting homes in roads including Shalloak Road, River View, Ladywood Road and Hillbrow Avenue.
Some residents have no water while others are reporting low pressure.
The issue is expected to be resolved by midday although South East Water says some customers may have already had their supply restored.
Jenny Rhodes, South East Water’s regional network manager, said: “We are very sorry to our customers in the Broad Oak and Sturry areas who were without water for a period this morning.
“A large 12-inch diameter water main burst in Shallock Road overnight resulting in 29 customers calling in to report no water.
“We immediately sent a technician to the area to investigate, bring the water under control and re-direct water around our extensive pipeline network to restore supplies.
“Our dedicated team will be working throughout the day to repair the pipe as soon as possible, however while this emergency work takes place some properties may experience low pressure.
“While we fix the pipe bottled water will be available at Bluebell Woods Park, Shallock Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0QD."
