Man and bus driver injured in crash outside Blean Primary School

Two people have been taken to hospital after a three vehicle crash outside a primary school.

The accident, which left a female bus driver seriously injured, happened on the A290 Whitstable Road at Blean Primary School at 10am.

A car is believed to have struck a stationary vehicle before rolling into the path of a single decker Triangle route bus, which was travelling towards Whitstable.

The collision left one of the cars on its side and the front windscreen of the Stagecoach bus shattered.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and the road was closed until about 11.40am.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 10.02am on Tuesday 11 September to a report of a three vehicle collision on the Whitstable Road at Blean.

"The collision involved a Vauxhall Mokka, which was travelling towards Canterbury, a single decker bus, which was travelling in the opposite direction, and a parked Seat Leon.

"Two people - the female driver of the bus and the male driver of the Vauxhall Mokka - were taken to a local hospital."

A Stagecoach spokesman said: "Our first thoughts are for the well-being of all involved, particularly our driver who we understand has suffered a significant injury.

"We're working closely with the police investigation into what happened."
