One at a time, please: Canterbury workmen at new Toddlers' Cove play park fail basic grammar rule with wrongly placed apostrophe
15:00, 11 July 2014
Bungling workmen failed a basic rule of English grammar when they made a sign for a new Canterbury play park.
In an embarrassing gaffe, workers wrongly placed the apostrophe after the "r", grammatically leaving the Toddlers' Cove play park in the ownership of a single toddler.
Graham Weaver, of St Andrew's Close, was appalled by the poor use of language.
He said: "I hope the toddler in question invites some friends or he or she will be very lonely playing alone.
"Still, these days, what's an apostrophe here or there – or even nowhere?"
Earlier this month, Canterbury City Council unveiled the play park, which was built as part of a
£1million improvement scheme for Toddlers’ Cove and the Westgate Gardens.
