A light show at the Cathedral will be a highlight of this year’s Canterbury Festival.
A programme of more than 150 events will be taking place across the city between Saturday, October 15 and Saturday, November 5.
The event promises audiences “a plethora of unique experiences with music, theatre, circus, comedy, cabaret, talks, science, family events, exhibitions and much more”.
Following two years of slimmed-down line-ups, Canterbury Festival is returning “with a bang”.
The 2022 festival will feature three-day immersive light and sound installation Shine: Let There Be Light, with world-renowned artists Luxmuralis, who will transform Canterbury Cathedral with a “jaw-dropping” display.
Canterbury’s own prog-rock legends Caravan will be among musical acts performing at this year’s Canterbury Festival.
There will be events aimed at all ages, such as fun, interactive bubble extravaganza The Bubble Show, and Baby Loves Disco - offering youngsters the chance to dance.
Organisers have arranged two events to get residents in the festival spirit ahead of the main event.
A troupe of actors on tour from the Globe Theatre will perform Shakespeare’s epic tragedy Julius Caesar at Kent College’s Great Hall, from September 15 to 17.
The following week, national treasure Dame Joanna Lumley will be appearing in conversation with her husband and former festival director Stephen Barlow.
The unique fundraising event will see the couple share an insight into how they juggle the limelight with their domestic lives.
Priority booking for Festival Friend will open at 11am on Monday, while general booking opens at 11am on August 8.
For the full line-up, visit Canterbury Festival's website.
Buy tickets online, by calling 01227 457568, or in person at the Festival Office in Orange Street on weekdays between 10am and 5pm.
