The Chilham resident's vile actions were realised when the victim told her mother, who in turn, then alerted police.

Officers raided his house in Maidstone Road and seized his computer, on which they discovered 121 indecent images of children.

Following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court, Baker was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault on a child, two counts of causing or inciting sexual activity with a child, and three counts of possessing indecent images.

He was sentenced to six years and six months behind bars - and will remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Investigating officer, PC Chloe Chandler, said: "As soon as the victim’s mother became aware, she informed the police so we could take action to protect and support the victim.

"Further investigation led to the discovery of indecent images of children on Baker’s computer and, although he tried to deny it at court, it was clear to the jury and judge that he poses a risk to children, so I am pleased he has been jailed."

The assault on the girl happened in August 2017.
