Crane's load falls into houses being built in Pound Lane, Canterbury, on former Jaguar dealership land

A crane being used on a Canterbury building site has toppled over and gouged a hole in the wall of a house being built.

The wheeled machine was moving a steel container box when its weight brought it crashing into the homes at Pound Lane, Canterbury, at 2.15pm today.

No one was hurt.

The homes are being built on a piece of land which had once formed part of the Jaguar dealership on the corner of Pound Lane and St Peter's Street.

Workmen were arranging for the crane to be pulled upright.

One builder said: "No one got hurt, but it's still quite embarrassing."
