A2 re-opened after earlier accident near Lydden

The A2 was closed in both directions near Lydden, between Canterbury and Dover, early this morning after an accident.
The incident occurred just after 5am when a motor-scooter had struck a barrier on the A2 near Whitfield.
The rider was treated at the scene for injuries to his chest and an arm and he was taken to hospital for further attention.
The road was shut between Lydden Hill and the A256 Whitfield Hill while emergency services attended the scene, with traffic diverted through Lydden village.
It was re-opened at 7am.
The rider's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
No other vehicles were involved.
