EuroCanterbury Ladies up to third in the Investec Women's League after comfortable win at Cannock
08:19, 14 November 2011
EuroCanterbury Ladies moved up to third place in the Investec Women's League Premier Division after winning 5-0 away to bottom Club Cannock.
The visitors were 3-0 up inside half-an-hour, but had to wait until the closing few minutes to confirm their superiority over the Midlanders, who have lost all eight matches this season, conceding 35 goals.
Sarah Kerly (pictured) fired Canterbury into the lead after just seven minutes and the lead was doubled six minutes later when England and Great Britain international Natalie Seymour struck from a penalty corner.
Kerly's second eased Canterbury into a 3-0 lead after 27 minutes but the score remained that way until six minutes from time when Lucy Hyams added the fourth from another corner. Kirsty Chambers completed the scoring in the final minute.
Canterbury are now on 15 points, just one behind second-placed Leicester, who beat Reading 3-2 to hand the leaders their first defeat of the season. Reading remain top, with a five-point buffer.
