Firefighters tackle blaze in Creine Mill Lane North, Canterbury

Firefighters were called to a blaze which broke out this evening.

Residents living in Creine Mill Lane North, near the Rheims Way roundabout in Canterbury, have reported seeing thick grey smoke billowing out into the street from an underground car park.

Witnesses could smell burning rubber and plastic near the fire.

Three fire engines arrived at 6.48 pm and closed the road while on the scene.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used dry powder to extinguish the flames coming from an electrical box.

There were no reported injuries from the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown but is being investigated.

Crews left the scene shortly before 8.30 pm this evening.
