The funeral of a popular Canterbury grandad has been organised following a fundraising appeal by his family.
The Gazette revealed last week how they had been forced to ask for help after burglars stole cash set aside for the ceremony of Kevin Billson.
Thieves broke into the home of daughter Aleesha Billson in Chartham on July 18 and the images of suspects caught on camera have been released by police.
She and sister Tia and brother Tyler launched a Facebook appeal to try to replace the funds and give their dad “the best of everything” for his send-off, which has so far raised more than £1,800 from supporters.
Mr Billson, 51, who was nicknamed Buffalo, was found dead at his home in Canterbury on Sunday, July 14. The circumstances are not suspicious but an inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.
His funeral will be at St Dunstan’s Church in Canterbury at 1pm on Wednesday, August 14.
