Girl's head repeatedly kicked in Canterbury gang attack

A teenage girl's head was repeatedly kicked in a shocking gang attack on a group of children.

Emergency services were called to St Peter's Street in Canterbury, near the junction with St Peter's Place, following the violence.

It was reported a teenage girl had her head repeatedly kicked in the assault and two injured youngsters were treated by paramedics.

The incident happened near the city's Guildhall and historic landmark Westgate Towers shortly after 7pm yesterday.

It involved a gang of schoolchildren who attacked members of another group of youngsters.

An investigation has since been launched by police to track down anyone with information about the assault.

It was reported on a local Facebook community group that five shocked passers-by were forced to intervene in the attack.

"It instantly escalated," the post states.

"One girl was pushed to the ground and another girl started kicking her repeatedly in the head, surrounded by the group of young teenagers, all aged 13 to 15."

Police and paramedics were called to the scene.

A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called to a report that a group of schoolchildren had assaulted members of another group of children in St Peter's Street, Canterbury, near the junction with St Peter's Place, shortly after 7pm yesterday.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a girl and a boy were treated for minor injuries at the scene."
