Reports that a grenade had been let off in Aylesham are unfounded, police have confirmed.
A post on Twitter claimed that someone had been shot with a catapult and an explosive had been let off.
But in a response to Kent Online's queries, a police spokesman said they were called to a disturbance in Cornwallis Avenue yesterday (Good Friday), where it is thought a group of people were trying to gain entry to a property.
Eyewitnesses reported a strong police presence in the area.
The police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.39pm on Friday, March 25, following reports of a disturbance in Cornwallis Avenue, Aylesham.
"Witnesses reported a group of people trying to gain entry into a property.
"Officers attended the scene, and along with NPAS carried out an extensive search of the area for potential offenders, but none were found."
It was later confirmed that the rumours are not true.
