A school head teacher has fired off a warning to parents after a girl was approached by a strange man in Canterbury.
Michael Liddicoat sent out the alert following the worrying incident involving one of his pupils at the Archbishop’s School in St Stephen’s Hill.
He told how the child had been approached by a man in a small blue vehicle in the St Stephen’s area of the city at 8.45am on Monday.
The incident was reported to police and parents have been told to ensure their children know to report anything suspicious.
A spokesman for the nearby St Stephen’s primary school said they were aware of the incident and the safety of the school’s pupils is paramount.
Mr Liddicoat wrote: “We have had a report that a pupil was approached by a man in a small blue vehicle in the St Stephen’s area of Canterbury.
“While thankfully nothing happened, the incident has been reported to the police and we would ask that you make your children aware that they should report to yourselves or a member of school staff if they see anything or have any concerns.”
Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Police are making enquiries following a report of a girl being approached by a man in a car on St Stephen’s Hill in Canterbury at around 8.45am on Monday, September 29."
"Officers have been working with the local school to ensure the safety of the children and reminding parents to speak to their children about staying safe."
