Here are the best pictures of Canterbury Pride 2019

Thousands of rainbow-clad revellers turned out for Canterbury Pride yesterday, Kent's biggest celebration of the LGBT community.

Families, couples and groups of friends young and old gathered along the High Street to watch a parade through the city centre to Dane John Gardens.

From drag queens to crowds of spectators, here are some of the best pictures from the day.

Around 20,000 people took part in the colourful fun and the parade included groups from Kent Police, Kent Fire & Rescue and businesses including Sainsbury's.

Youth worker Lewis Longley, 23, is from Canterbury went with fiancée George Townsley and a group of friends.

"I've not been to Pride in a few years and coming back, it seems to have grown hugely over the years," he said.

"I've lived in Canterbury for so many years. I always remember it as quite a backwards and Conservative with a small C place.

Partying continued late into the night.
