A gang of women assaulted two friends in a city centre attack.
The pair - a man and a woman - were walking along North Lane in Canterbury when they crossed paths with the group.
Words were exchanged and the group then pounced on the woman, hitting her in the head.
The man, aged in his 20s, intervened in an attempt to separate them, but was then attacked himself.
He suffered cuts and bruising to his head, while his friend sustained minor injuries.
As they waited at a nearby bus stop for an ambulance to arrive, they were confronted by three men who subjected the male victim to a further attack.
A male friend of the pair who had joined them at the bus stop was also assaulted.
The attacks happened at about 2am on Sunday, September 7, but police have only just released details as they appeal for witnesses.
Officers are linking the incidents and want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.
Witnesses are asked to call PC Alan Porter on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/029659/14 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
