00:00, 05 June 2003
AN INVESTIGATION into the treatment of Iraqi prisoners of war by Col Tim Collins is still continuing, the Ministry of Defence said today.
The then Lt Col Collins was officer in charge of the Royal Irish Regiment based at Canterbury's Howe Barracks. On his return from the conflict he was promoted and transferred from the regiment.
The Army's Special Investigations Branch is investigating allegations his treatment of prisoners may have broken the Geneva Convention.
