Jammed rail barrier causes traffic chaos
00:00, 17 January 2002
A FAULTY railway crossing barrier at St Dunstan's in Canterbury caused traffic chaos during the rush-hour this morning. A barrier remained jammed down after a train had passed through, making it impossible for vehicles to cross.
It caused long tailbacks up Whitstable Road and along other routes as drivers tried to find alternative ways to cross the city. Engineers later fixed the problem.
