A man had to be treated for the effects of breathing in smoke after a fire started in a pub kitchen.
The blaze broke out in the deep fat fryers at the Lady Luck in Canterbury High Street shortly after 1pm.
As well as water hoses, firefighters used a fire blanket and dry powder fire extinguishers to tackle the flames, as well as a large fan to clear smoke and fumes from the boozer.
A man was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke and passed to the care of paramedics.
Three fire engines were seen attending the blaze in Canterbury High Street on Tuesday.
Less than an hour after the Fire Service arrived the scene was safe and the incident was declared over, but the pub was forced to close.
On social media, the Lady Luck’s management said: “We had a small fire today in the Lady Luck kitchen. The pub was quickly evacuated by Lady Luck staff, who also tackled the fire until the Fire Brigade attended.
“One of our kitchen staff was taken to hospital for observation, but thankfully no-one was hurt. There's no damage to the pub itself, although we'll be closed for a few days at least while we assess the damage to the kitchen.
The pub bosses went on to praise the work of the Fire Service: “The kitchen itself will very likely need to remain closed for a little longer so that we can make completely sure that everything is completely safe. We will however reopen as soon as we reasonably can.”
“We are hugely grateful to the fire brigade for their amazingly quick response and calm professionalism, and to our equally amazing customers for their many messages of support.”
