Traffic delays near Hackington Road between Canterbury and Whitstable after crash

There are long delays on a major route following a suspected hit-and-run in which a car overturned.

Hackington Road is closed in both directions, between Canterbury and Whitstable, following the crash.

Motorists are stuck in delays following the incident between Thornden Wood Road and Link Road, near Tyler Hill.

A police spokesman confirmed the force was called to Hackington Road, Tyler Hill at 10.35am today following a report of a collision involving a car and a van.

"On attendance, the driver of the van was not at the scene and enquiries to locate them are ongoing," they said.

"No serious injuries have been reported."

The road was blocked after the incident but has since been cleared.

Kent Highways posted about the crash shortly before midday.

"Delays in the area due to an RTC," it shared on Twitter.

"Approach with caution."
