Long-serving councillor Jenny Samper from Whitstable has died.

The Conservative councillor, who represented residents in the Chestfield ward, is believed to be one of the longest serving councillors at Canterbury City Council.

Despite a four-year gap in the 90s, the former primary school deputy head teacher had been a councillor since she was first elected in 1976. She was Lord Mayor of Canterbury twice.
