Man arrested after woman attacked on footpath near Beverley Meadow, Canterbury

A man has been arrested after a woman was assaulted in a late-night attack.
The victim had been walking on a footpath leading to Beverley Meadow in Canterbury at about 11pm on Sunday, when she was reportedly approached by a man who assaulted her.
A member of the public intervened and the man left the area in the direction of the railway underpass.
The woman was not injured.
Police have this evening revealed a 47-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested this morning in connection with the assault.
He remains in custody while inquiries continue.
Police cordoned off the footpath, which runs near Beaconsfield Road, while they investigated.
Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to get in touch.
