A manhunt is underway following a baseball bat attack in the centre of Canterbury.
Police say a man of "large build" used the sports equipment as a weapon to hit another man outside Westgate Towers.
The tracksuit-wearing attacker, who is described as about six feet tall, attacked the victim in St Peter's Place, between the junctions with St Peter's Street and Tower Way.
The violent incident happened between 10pm and 10.20pm on Thursday, July 28.
Described as "troubling" by police, the attack has now sparked a witness appeal and a call for the victim to come forward.
He is reported to have refused help from those nearby and left the scene shortly after being hit.
A silver BMW, which is believed to be linked to the offence, was seen in the area at the time.
PC Charles Mills said: "This was a troubling incident and we would very much like to speak to the victim, with a view to bringing any perpetrators to justice.
"We would also like to speak to anyone else who witnessed the incident but has yet to come forward, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage which may assist our enquiries."
The victim is described by witnesses as being about 5ft 9ins tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a cap.
Anyone with information should call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/145900/22.
