Man charged after two women assaulted in Preston near Canterbury

A man has been charged after two women were attacked in a quaint village.

In the first incident, a woman walking through Preston - between Canterbury and Sandwich - reported a man refused to let her pass.

Detectives say he then pushed his face towards hers during the incident on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 31.

Another woman walking through the village reported a man put his arms around her and squeezed her on Friday afternoon.

Andrew Phillips was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.

The 66-year-old, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Medway on September 29.
