Man charged with fraud and going equipped to steal following investigation by police in Canterbury

A man charged with fraud and going equipped to steal has been remanded in custody.

Mark Scamp is charged with using a bankcard belonging to another and, separately, having bolt croppers for the use in theft.

The first charge relates to the use of a bankcard at a shop in the village of Minster, near Ramsgate, on July 14.

The bankcard had been reported stolen from a car in Aylesham earlier the same day.

The second charge relates to an incident where a bicycle was stolen near Sturry Road, Canterbury, on the afternoon of April 26.

Mr Scamp, 37, of Dickens Avenue, Canterbury, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
