Man dies after three car collision

A man has died after his car was involved in a serious accident near Aylesham.
The three-car collision took place at 7.40am on the B2046 at the junction with The Street, Womenswold.
A white Ford Transit van, a green Ford Focus and a silver Peugeot were involved.
The driver of the Focus, a man believed to be from the Aylesham area, died at the scene.
The road is still closed while investigations continue.
Detective Sergeant Scott Lynch of the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The Peugeot had been travelling towards Aylesham and was stationary as it waited to turn right into The Street.
"The van was also travelling towards Aylesham and the Focus was being driven along the B2046 in the opposite direction when the collision happened.”
The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 20s from Chatham, was unhurt.
The driver of the Transit van, a man in his 20s from Canterbury, was also unhurt but his passenger, a woman in her 20s from Canterbury, was treated at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate for back pain and bruising.
Detective Sergeant Lynch added: “The B2046 is a busy road, especially at that time of day, and we are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or events leading up to it to contact us.”

- A 28-year-old man from the Canterbury area has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in police custody.
