Man dies after being hit by van outside Canterbury West station

A 70-year-old man has died after he was hit by a van outside a railway station.
An air ambulance, police and fire engines were called to Canterbury West yesterday afternoon.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.
The pedestrian was hit by a white Vauxhall Vivaro van at 12.05pm in Station Road West near the station.
A police spokesperson said: "The pedestrian, a 70-year-old man from Canterbury, sustained fatal injuries and was confirmed deceased at the scene.
"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who was in the area and may have dashcam footage."

Station Road West was closed for hours between the junction with St Dunstans Street and the roundabout with The Spires by officers and a cordon was in place outside the station.
