Man found dead in Great Stour river in Canterbury

An investigation has been launched into the death of man who was found dead in a river.
Police were called to a shallow section of the Great Stour behind River Bend Close, off Kingsmead Road in Canterbury.
Tragically, the man in his 30s was confirmed dead at the scene.
Officers would now like to track down anyone who saw two men together in the area on Saturday.
A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called at about 12pm on Sunday after a person was found lying unresponsive in a shallow section of the Great Stour river behind River Bend Close.
"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service but the man, who has since been identified as being local and in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The man’s next of kin has been notified.
"An investigation is being carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
"Detectives would particularly like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 3pm and 6pm the previous day, Saturday, October 15, and saw two men together."
