Motorist dies after car hits tree at Sturry

A man died in a road crash at Sturry on Saturday morning.
Officers say a white Vauxhall Astra soft top car smashed into a tree on the A291 Herne Bay Road at 7.30am. The car was being driven with the top down.
It ploughed through a fence near Sturry level crossing before hitting the tree.
Crash investigators closed the road while they examined the scene and it was re-opened at around 11.30am.
Firefighters from the Canterbury station also attended the incident.
Police say they want to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision.
It is believed it had been driven from the Margate area along the A28.
