Celebrations following the birth of a new calf have been tinged with sadness following the death of its mother.
Howletts Wild Animal Park has welcomed a fresh-faced greater kudu to the herd.
But the youngster’s mother sadly died due to complications after the birth.
Born on Sunday, July 7, the unnamed baby female is settling in well and has met with other kudu through the fence.
Keepers hope to introduce the calf to the rest of the herd soon.
The greater kudu is a woodland antelope found throughout eastern and southern Africa.
