A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in a car park.
Police were called yesterday afternoon after the man was discovered dead at the multi-storey in Canterbury.
Forensic units joined detectives in Castle Street following the call at 1.44pm on Easter Monday.
Officers are treating the death of the victim, who was in his 50s, as suspicious – but are understood to be unclear over exactly when it occurred.
They are thought to be looking at a window between Saturday (April 8) and Monday (April 10).
A 27-year-old man from Whitstable was arrested on suspicion of murder later on in the day and is being questioned today.
He remains in custody while inquiries are ongoing into the incident.
Police and forensic teams in white suits were at the scene today – almost 24 hours later – with parts of the car park cordoned off.
Much of the investigation is focussing along part of Gas Street, next to the Canterbury Castle ruins where teams were carrying out inquiries.
Michaela Neal, 25 who lives in the building above the car park, said: "I had no idea. My heart goes out to his family but I'm not surprised that something like this has happened here.
"It's just a part of living in Canterbury, especially because we live so close to Dane John."
Neighbour Ahmed Yjwaje, 23, added: "I'm surprised that this would happen here in the car park and it worries me because I walk home that way late from work sometimes."
It is understood they are reviewing CCTV in the area to establish any further information and gathered evidence.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in Castle Street between Saturday and Monday, or has any information regarding the death.
They are urged to call report it to the Major Incident Public Portal quoting 46/64809/23, submit dashcam footage or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
