A teenage boy has been arrested as police investigate reports a woman was sexually assaulted in Canterbury.
The victim was walking home from a friend's house after 4.20am this morning when she noticed a man standing outside Canterbury West station.
He started walking in the same direction as her and at the corner of Forty Acres Road Whitstable Road he approached her and asked for a cigarette, before making sexual demands.
It is alleged he sexually assaulted the woman before a neighbour came out of their house and intervened. The man then ran off.
A teenager from Folkestone has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
But police hope people who might have seen something will come forward.
DI Ed Ruffle said: ‘‘We are urging anyone who may information which can help our enquiries to contact us. If you were approached or saw anyone acting suspiciously, please don’t hesitate to call."
The number is 01843 222289, or contact Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
