Owen Jones is coming to Canterbury this weekend to campaign for Labour ahead of the general election
The journalist and political commentator, who writes a regular column for the Guardian, is set to speak at a city event on Saturday.
Jones, an outspoken supporter of the Labour Party, will be joining grassroots pro-Labour organisation Momentum, to campaign to "keep Canterbury red" at the upcoming election.
Jones recently described it on Twitter as "the most important general election in decades", and has also changed his name to "Owen Register to Vote Jones" on the social media platform.
Canterbury is set to be one of the most hotly-contested seats in the country, when the nation goes to the polls on December 12.
Incumbent MP Rosie Duffield shocked the nation in 2017 when she ousted long-serving Tory Sir Julian Brazier, beating him by just 187 votes and overturning his 10,000 majority to pick up Labour’s only seat in Kent.
On Facebook, more than 200 people have expressed interested in attending the event.
It will take place at 11.30am, at St Peter's Methodist Church in St Peter's Street. The group will meet for speeches, before going out to canvas in the city.
