Morrisons petrol station threatened strike action called off
12:00, 27 January 2017
Threatened strike action that could have halted deliveries to supermarket petrol stations in Kent has been called off.
It was feared pumps at Morrisons could have ran dry as delivery drivers prepared to strike over claims a colleague was "docked" £5,200 pay.
But now, Unite, the country's largest union, says the dispute has been settled without the need for walkouts.
The union, which represents 19 drivers employed by DHL Supply Chain based in West Thurrock, says the staff members involved were continuing to work as normal.
A joint statement from DHL and the union said: “Following productive talks with DHL management, Unite is pleased to confirm that this matter has been resolved satisfactorily."
The terms of the settlement have not been revealed.
If the strikes went ahead, stores in Canterbury, Erith, Gravesend, Maidstone, Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Strood would have been affected.
