Police appeal for information after attempted cable theft
16:06, 07 December 2011
Thieves tried to steal telephone cable from a manhole in Bridge on Tuesday night.
Police were called to Bridge Hill and found a manhole cover open with cable inside which appeared to have been cut.
Officers believe the thieves may have been disturbed before they were able to make off with any of the cable.
Some residents have reported that they had problems with their phones this week which may have been caused by the damage to the cable.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or any unusual vehicles in the area that night.
Call the investigation team on 01227 868380 or the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference ZY/002126/11 with information.
